1968 Fender Precision

My "Ugly Duckling"

I bought this one many years ago as a badly rendered fretless. The frets had been poorly pulled, leaving ragged fret lines, and the holes had been filled with some kind of putty, that just never stopped expanding. I tried to develop a relationship with it, it did appear on one recording, but the magic just wasn't there.

It languished for many years in my closet, until one day I decided to rescue it from it's purgatory. I had a friend refret the neck, going with the smallest fret possible. Now it's what a P bass should be, " Growling like a lion, purring like a kitten" Emg actives currently , although I plan to possible try out some passives, maybe Bart's. Currently round wounds.
