"Franken" Fender Jazz
One of my current 1st "goto" basses. The bass wood body, and maple neck
with ebony board came from a friend of mine, ( thanks Gerry! ) and
turned out to be a delightful pairing.
The bass wood body ( or maybe
poplar ) is very light and resonant, but had no visual character at all.
So I did a "faux" Minwax grain, and then sprayed black to create a
tobacco sunburst. Many people have commented on the wood grain, and I always
spill the truth.
This bass is quite versatile, the neck pickup soloed does the best P
bass imitation of all my Jazz basses, and then both together have a
perfect Jazz bass sound , rich, pointy and immediately identifiable.
Bartolini's on this bass, and roundwounds. This bass is a classic example
of getting Porsche quality for Volkswagen price.
